Grand Exchange Prices Crash After Duplication Glitch Rumours

Mass panic selling has gripped the Grand Exchange following unconfirmed reports of an item duplication exploit. Rune platebody prices have fallen 40% in a single trading session.

The Grand Exchange experienced its worst single-day decline in living memory yesterday, as rumours of an item duplication glitch sent traders into a selling frenzy.

Rune platebodies, long considered a stable investment, plummeted from 38,000gp to just 22,800gp. Dragon bones fell 25%, and even humble cowhides saw a 12% drop.

"Pure Pandemonium"

Veteran merchant Cornelius, who has traded at the GE since its opening day, described the scene as "pure pandemonium."

"I've never seen anything like it," he told the Gazette, visibly shaken. "People were dumping their entire banks at market price. One lad sold 10,000 magic logs for 1gp each. One gold piece!"

The rumours appear to have originated from a now-deleted post on an unnamed forum, which claimed that a specific sequence of actions could duplicate any tradeable item. Despite no evidence supporting the claim, panic spread rapidly across all worlds.

Jagex Responds

In a rare mid-day statement, Mod Ash was seen in World 302 personally reassuring traders that no such glitch existed.

"There's no dupe," the legendary developer reportedly typed in public chat, before being immediately mobbed by players asking for a pet drop rate increase.

Winners and Losers

While most traders suffered significant losses, a small group of contrarian investors reportedly made fortunes by buying at the bottom.

"I bought 50,000 rune platebodies at 22k each," said an anonymous merchant who identified himself only as "Merch_King_420." "When the price recovers, I'll be richer than the Wise Old Man."

Market analysts expect prices to stabilise within the week, though some warn that confidence in the Grand Exchange's stability may take longer to recover.

The Gielinor Gazette's financial desk will provide daily price updates throughout the recovery period.
